About
"The first draft is just you telling yourself the story."
— Terry Pratchett
I'm a catholic, a husband, a father, and a civil engineer who has spent his career in construction. I bring a view of the world grounded in faith and shaped by the raw, physical reality of building things — the pleasure and the misery, the dust and the devotion.
This blog is an outlet for my study of creative writing. Here I reflect on the concepts I'm learning so they become ingrained in me, and I publish the stories, poems, and other works that emerge from that study.
My writing is grounded in the belief that we are meant not for this world but for our heavenly home — and yet it does not mute the agony of this world. Redemption is always possible, but so is suffering. Both deserve to be written honestly.
If you're here to learn about writing, I hope my reflections resonate. If you're here to read a good story, I hope mine stick with you.
